"Lamps"

Hey, just writing for the heck of it. Don't really know what to say today... But I suppose I've got a bunch of stuff to catch up on. Let's see... I saw Star Trek, I'm reading Jerk, California, I heard a bunch of new music (that I remembered to write down), and a bunch of other stuff has been going on. I guess I'll start with the regularly scheduled song, and we'll go from there!

Here's "Lamps" by Esterlyn. A little background on my experience with these guys is... I didn't even know they existed until just a couple months ago I heard "Sweet Love" and fell in love with the song. Eventually I met the band, decided they were pretty cool, and now I'm a fan lol.

Anyway, I'll say again, I don't own this song, Esterlyn does.

"Lamps" by Esterlyn

Ten-twenty, North 23rd,
This winter won't end.
Cold's been creeping it's way inside.
This world without color
Finds a place on this street,
To uncover this beauty in me.

This life can be different,
This life could be more,
To take whats been given,
To give even more.
This life can be different,
Forget what we know,
It's not enough
Just to breathe anymore,
To breathe anymore.

Movement speaks to the still,
Leaves have fallen with time,
Walking forward while falling behind.
Despite all this mind,
I give you this moment in time,
I'm ready to make things right.

This life can be different,
This life could be more,
To take whats been given,
To give even more.
This life can be different,
Forget what we know,
'Cause its not enough,
Just to breathe anymore,
To breathe anymore.

I gave you this moment,
I gave you this dream,
I gave you this feeling so help me believe,
That you are the only beauty in me.

This life can be different,
This life could be more,
To take whats been given,
To give even more.
This life can be different,
Forget we know,
'Cause its not enough,
Just to breathe anymore.

This life can be different,
Forget what we know,
'Cause its not enough,
Just to breathe anymore.

Hope you enjoy! Lemme know what you think, comments and suggestions are welcome!

Oh! And if you wanna check out "Sweet Love" also by Esterlyn, the banjo is beautiful. I may have to write about that one too, but I'm trying to give some time between songs of the same artist/band. Variety is the spice of life. Oh! Another good one just came up! ...I'm listening to their CD right now lol this one's called "Esther". The background story behind this song (as well as the song itself) is absolutely beautiful, but I can't write about it right now! I'd love to do another double-feature, but they're kinda special, like once a month deals. I'll have to write about this song sometime next month.

Until tomorrow!

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Hey guys,

Finally feeling better. Well, good enough anyways.

The other day I went and saw Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but since it's pretty new I'm gonna keep the summary pretty much with what you can see in the trailers.

It starts out with college preparation. Sam's about ready to head for college all the way on the other side of the continent, and his mom is freaking out. He tells Bumblebee (his camaro / guardian) to stay in the garage at home while he's gone, which Bee isn't too happy about. He goes to his new college with his parents and after they leave, he discovers the hard way that Transformers aren't limited to vehicle shapes.

The Decepticons are back with a plot to rid the world of the last Prime, who we know as Optimus. Why they want to get rid of him (I mean, besides the obvious fact that he's an Autobot) is something I'll leave you to ponder.

There are a lot of new Transformers, a lot of plot twists and turns, a lot of explosions, and you get to find out why the Autobots and Decepticons came to earth on the first place.

Overall, it's an awesome movie, exactly what you'd expect after the first one, and it leaves you wondering if there will be a third.

Good to be back, and I'll be posting again tomorrow!

Be Back Later

Hey guys,

Still not feeling so hot. Actually, truth be told, I'm feeling worse. Until I get better, I'm gonna have to go. Be back in a week or so I guess, give or take.

Til later,

"I'm Not Who I Was"

Hey guys, I'm not feelin' all that great, so I'm gonna keep this short, sweet, and to the point. ...Or at least as short, sweet, and to the point the song is anyway. Again, it doesn't belong to me. It's got a sweet sound though, so check it out!

I really like this song, it... well, it kinda speaks to me. I've felt that exact way before, hurt by someone, but I grew up and forgave them, even though they may not have known it, or that they even did anything wrong.

I'm not who I was, and I probably never can be who I was again. I got smarter, but I also remembered how easy it was for me to forgive people as a child, and I promised myself never to forget that ease of forgiveness. That's probably part of why I'm told I'm easy to get along with lol. I don't hold grudges, I don't judge, I just take life as it comes, learn from it, and move on, keep living.

Life's too short to hold grudges. That's the theme of more than one of my favorite songs, and I find it true every time.

'Til tomorrow,

The Princess Bride

A special hello to all you dads (and dads to be)!

Yesterday I was watching The Princess Bride with my dad, and well, I figured I'd write about it. Most of you out there have probably seen it at least once (I've only met one person who hadn't, and we remedied that issue later that evening), but it's a classic, so here's my summary!

It starts out pretty basic, girl (Buttercup) meets boy (Westley), Buttercup torments Westley to no end, but he loves her anyways. She finds out he loves her and loves him back... Then 'cause they're dirt poor, he goes off to the country across the sea to seek his fortune (to later come home and get married) and never comes back due to a pirate attack (the Dread Pirate Roberts never leaves survivors). Buttercup is devastated, to put it gently. She later describes it as "I DIED THAT DAY!"

Fast forward five years.

Westley is still dead (duh), and Buttercup is engaged to Prince Humperdink. Still not happy, she was picked for her looks though Humperdink does an ok job of pretending to love her. She goes out horseback riding, gets kidnapped by a Turkish giant (Fezzik), a Sicilian genius (Vizzini), and a Spaniard swordsmen (Inigo Montoya). They bring her to a boat to cross the channel and kill her on the frontier of the opposite country, Guilder (sworn enemy of Florin, Humperdink's country) to start a war. Halfway across the channel or so, Inigo realizes they are being followed by a boat all in black and Buttercup jumps off their boat to be eaten by shrieking eels.

I'll leave off there with the same reassurance a grandfather spoke to his grandson "She doesn't get eaten at this time."

Tis an excellent movie. Sure the monsters aren't freakishly realistic, but they're not supposed to be. It's a mixed up fairy tale, not a horror story. It's got a cast with a lot of people you'll probably recognize, and the story is superb. It never gets old no matter how many times you see it, and it's a LOT of fun to quote lol they've got some awesome lines in there.

Another thing, and I'll quote the grandpa and grandson here to illustrate my point;

"A book?"
"That's right. When I was your age, television was called books. And this is a special book. It was the book my father used to read to me when I was sick, and I used to read it to your father. And today I'm gonna read it to you."
"Has it got any sports in it?"
"Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles..."
"Doesn't sound too bad. I'll try to stay awake."
"Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming."

Basically it's got something for everyone. I read the book too, and it's even better than the movie. There are a few differences, as is normal when switching between a book and movie of the same title, but nothing too bad. I highly recommend them both. If you're the analytical type however, watch the movie first so you don't get upset that they changed a couple things in the book. Nothing too big was changed, but you gotta remember that they have to fit a few hundred page book into a movie that is no more than a couple hours long.

Questions? Comments? Write it in the comment box!

Oh, and before I forget, the movie isn't mine, nor are any of the other movies that I've written about thus far.

'Til tomorrow!

Double Feature

Hi again! Did ya miss me?

Lol I finished yet another book... Twas called Alice, I Think, and... I didn't particularly care for it. Sure it had some funny parts and stuff, but it was so out there... I couldn't even really tell what decade it was! So... I'm not gonna summarize it. If you wanna read it and you've got the attention span for it, go right on ahead, but I personally found it boring. Usually I only find my math books boring, so that's saying something. I think.

Anyways, out of nowhere this afternoon I started thinking of this song I haven't heard in months. I don't own this one either. Believe me, I'll tell you when I post something I own. This isn't it. Enjoy.

"Get Off My Back" by Bryan Adams

Well you think that you can take me on,
You must be crazy.
There ain't a single thing you've done
That's gonna faze me.
Oh, but if you wanna have a go,
I just wanna let you know...

Yeah, get off my back,
And into my game.
Get outta my way,
'Cause I'm wild and untamed.
Get outta my face,
Or give it your best shot.
I think it's time you better face the fact,
Get off of my back.

You know it's all just a game
That I'm playin,
You think that you can find a way in,
Is what I'm sayin.
Oh, but if you wanna have a go,
I just wanna let you know...

Oh, get off my back,
And into my game.
Get outta my face,
'Cause I'm wild and untamed.
Get outta my way,
Or give it your best shot.
'Cause you know this train is comin off this track,
Get off my back.

Yeah, get off my back.
Get off.

Hey
Get off,
Get off,
Get off,
Get off,
Get off,
Get off,
Get off,
Get off of my back.

That song is a lot of fun to listen to while watching the scene in Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron it's in. That's another good movie, by the way, I'll have to see about watching it sometime soon and telling you guys all about it. In the meantime however, to make up for missing a day or two of posting, I'll add another song for you guys. Still not mine. Same artist, by the way. I know I said the other day that if it sounds like the singer needs a cough drop, I probably won't enjoy their music? Well... This guy's the exception to the rule.

"You Can't Take Me" by Bryan Adams

You can't take me, yeah!

Gotta fight another fight,
I gotta run another night.
Get it out,
Check it out.
I'm on my way and it don't feel right.
I've gotta get me back,
I can't be beat,
And thats a fact.
Its ok, I'll find my way,
You ain't gonna take me down, no way.

Yeah.

Don't judge a thing 'til you know whats inside it.
Don't push me, I'll fight it.
Never gonna give it, never gonna give it up, no.
If you can't catch a wave, then you're never gonna ride it,
You can't come uninvited.
Never gonna give it, never gonna give it up, no.
You can't take me, I'm free.

Why did it all go wrong?
I wanna know what's goin on.
What's this holdin' me?
I'm not where I'm s'posed to be.

I gotta fight another fight,
I gotta fight with all my might.
I'm gettin out, so check it out.
You're in my way, yeah you better watch out!

Oh, come on!

Don't judge a thing till you know what's inside it,
Don't push me, I'll fight it.
Never gonna give it, never gonna give it up, no.
If you can't catch a wave then you're never gonna ride it,
You can't come uninvited.
Never gonna give it, never gonna give it up, no.
You can't take me, I'm free.

Oh yeah, I'm free.

So yep, there ya go! Um... Both these songs sound pretty awesome separate, but both are also in the movie I told you about a little bit ago, Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. The songs fit really well with the movie, and, well, enjoy!

Til tomorrow,

-Kj

Oh! P.S. Just so you know, I listen to each song several times in a row to try to get all the lyrics right (I only ever use outside websites or preposted lyrics if I really honestly can't make any sense out of a section), and I do my best to get them all perfect for you guys, but I'm not perfect, so if something's amiss or wrong or whatever, I'm sorry! Just doing my best. Oh, and again, any questions, comments, suggestions, whatever, write me a comment, I'd love to hear from you! -Kj

"Already Over"

Ok, my friend sent me a link to a video she saw on YouTube, and I liked the song it was set to... It's got an interesting quality to it, kinda half classical and half rock. Beautiful music. Just to jog your memory, this song doesn't belong to me. Again, I'm just the girl who listens to music, not the actual artist. Um... Here it is.

"Already Over" by Red

You never go,
You're always here,
(Suffocating me)
Under my skin,
I cannot run away.

Fading slowly.

I'd give it all to you,
Letting go of me,
Reaching as I fall,
I know it's already over now.
Nothing left to lose,
Loving you again,
I know it's already over,
Already over now.

My best defense,
Running from you.
I can't resist,
Take all you want from me.
Breaking slowly.

I'd give it all to you,
Letting go of me,
Reaching as I fall,
I know it's already over now.
Nothing left to lose,
Loving you again,
I know it's already over,
Already over now.

You're all I'm reaching for,
It's already over.
All I'm reaching for,
It's already over now.

I give it all to you,
I offer up my soul,
It's already over,
Already over now.

Give it all to you,
Letting go of me,
Reaching as I fall,
I know it's already over now.
Nothing left to lose,
Loving you again,
I know it's already over now.
It's already over now,
I know it's already over,
Already over.

At the very end of the video there was a quote from someone (who I don't know, so this still doesn't belong to me) that said,

"Love removes the mask we fear we cannot live without... And know we cannot live within."

It was set to an anime couple who had apparently had some relationship issues or something, but got over it in the end. ...I wouldn't know, since I don't actually watch that particular anime. Or any others currently for that matter.

But yeah, that song is right on the brink of me not really caring for it. I don't really like screamo stuff, but if you can still make out most of the words through the insanely distortioned electric guitar, tis ok. As long as the singer isn't screaming or sounds like he needs a coughdrop, I'll listen. ...Actually I don't care for rap either, so for future reference, if anyone has a suggestion for me, please don't make it screamo or rap, k?

I got a bunch of books left to read (already finished two!) so I'll probably be back sometime this weekend. Maybe Monday.

Til then!

Books

I went to the library today and checked out 33 books. ...Or was it 32? I don't recall. Well, it was enough that the bag I held them all in was so heavy I had to lean a lot to one side to lift it. I'm gonna have to weigh it to check I suppose lol.

Anyways, I'm in the middle of (or rather 3/4 of the way through) one of them, so the regularly scheduled blog will probably switch to vaguely off and on as I get through them. Give me about two weeks, maybe three, and I'll be done with all of them. Until I finish the books themselves, I'll be mostly focusing on... Well, the movie and music part. Which brings me to the subject at hand...

I didn't see any movies today, nor did I listen to any particularly memorable music. I heard some of Sydney White as background noise earlier this evening, but I wasn't paying attention. I've seen it a couple times, so I kinda ignored it.

Don't get me wrong, it's a good movie, I just wasn't focused on it. Basically it's a modern-day version of Snow White, complete with seven friends, a prince, and a witch. ...Technically she isn't really a witch, but her last name is Witchburn and she's got an evil attitude, so it works I suppose.

I'd make this more detailed, but I've got a book calling my name so... bye!

"The Motions"

I am so completely drained right now... but it's a happy, triumphant drain. I'm still gonna make this quick though, since I can't be held responsible for diarrhea of the mouth ...Or rather, fingers right now.

I'm picking this one because the first time I heard it, it portrayed my exact emotions. It also sparked a bit of a change in my behavior. ...Kinda cool how a song can do that...

Anyways, need I say it? This song doesn't belong to me, it belongs to Matthew West. He's the guy with the voice and the talent and stuff, I'm just the girl who likes music.

So yep, I caught myself singing that in the shower this morning and I remembered how much I like that song, so I kept it in my head all day just for you guys. ...And now that my brain is officially fried (uber busy day is finally coming to a close), I'll talk to you guys later!

Til tomorrow!

Get Smart

Yesterday I saw Get Smart. And yep, it's the new one with Steve Carell, and Anne Hathaway.
One of these days I'll try out the older version, but until then, the new one is good.

I know a lot of reviewers say all the jokes were spent on the commercials and ads and stuff for it, but they're missing a lot. That movie has a lot of more subtle jokes, and if you spend the whole time watching for the stuff in the trailers, you'll miss them. True, it's funny seeing the Rock staple a paper to some guy's head, and it's also funny seeing Steve and Anne slam into a wall when aiming for a window... but that's not all. I'm not giving those little tidbits away, I'll let you enjoy it yourself.

Anyways, here's your summary.

Maxwell Smart (Carell) has spent a long time working for Control at a desk job. He's their best analyst and spends a lot of time figuring out what's going on inside KAOS agent's heads. Basically, he's got probably the most boring job there, but he does it well, so it's good. Except... he's not happy. He wants to get out there and be an agent who gets noticed and admired like Agent 23 (the Rock), but instead he's busy with his mind-numbing desk job.
Every year though, he gets out there and takes the Field Agent Test... and this year, he passes. Unfortunately for him however, the Chief wants him to continue with his analyst work due to his excellence. One day he heads for work at Control and finds the place a wreck. Looks like KAOS messed everything up. The Chief wants his agents to get out there and find out what's up, but all of their identities have been compromised... Except Max and Agent 99 (Hathaway). So Max (whose official agent number is 86) and 99 go deep undercover to see what KAOS has been up to and what Control can do to stop them.

I'll let you figure out how the story ends, and again, any comments, movie suggestions, ratings, anything, write it in the comment box and I'll check it out!

Until tomorrow!

"I Will Survive"

This song... Means a lot to me. That's all ya really gotta know.

"I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor

First I was afraid,
I was petrified.
Kept thinking I could never live
Without you by my side.
Then I spent so many nights
Just thinkin' how you did me wrong,
And I grew strong,
And I learned how to get along.

And so you're back,
From outer space.
I just walked in to find you here,
With that sad look upon your face.
I should've changed that stupid lock,
I should've made you leave the key,
If I'd known for just one second,
You'd be back to bother me.

Go on now go!
Walk out the door!
Just turn around now,
'Cause you're not welcome anymore.

Weren't you the one
Who tried to hurt me with goodbyes?
You think I'd crumble?
You think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no, not I!
I will survive.
Oh, as long as I know how to love,
I know I'll stay alive.
I've got all my life to live,
And I've got all my love to give,
And I'll survive,
I will survive.
Hey hey!

It took all the strength I had
Not to fall apart,
Just tryin hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart.
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feelin' sorry for myself.
I used to cry,
But now I hold my head up high.

And you see me,
Somebody new,
I'm not that chained up little person
Still in love with you.
And so you felt like dropping in,
And just expect me to be free.
Well I'm savin' all my lovin'
For someone who's lovin' me.

Go on, now go!
Walk out the door!
Just turn around now,
'Cause you ain't welcome anymore.

Weren't you the one
Who tried to hurt me with goodbyes?
You think I'd crumble?
You think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no, not I!
I will survive!
Oh as long as I know how to love,
I know I'll stay alive.
I've got all my life to live,
And I've got all my love to give,
And I'll survive.
I will survive!

Oh,
Go on, now go!
Walk out the door!
Just turn around now,
'Cause you ain't welcome anymore.

Weren't you the one
Who tried to break me with goodbyes?
You think I'd crumble?
You think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no, not I!
I will survive!

Again, this song does not belong to me in any way, shape, or form, past, present, or future.

I said at the beginning that the song means a lot to me, but it's probably not in the way you're thinking... I didn't go through a terrible break-up with a bf that tried to come back, nor did I divorce a husband who attempted the same. ...I'm not even old enough to legally get married lol. It's the concept of surviving that means something. I'll let you ponder that, 'cause I'm not offering more explanations.

Anyways, give a rating, comments, suggestions, whatever in the comments box, and I'll write again later!

The First Book!! (Finally!)

Yesterday I finished reading The Host by Stephanie Meyer for the second time. I kinda had to re-read it, not because I liked it, but more because I was really prejudiced against it the first time I read it. I had to try it again with an open mind.

Basically I didn't particularly care for what I had heard about Ms. Meyer's stories and I had a lot of bad reviews and Mary Sue accusations floating around my head the first go around and that's just not very fair to her. She did what I can't, she's got the guts to get her stories out there, no matter how insane they may or may not be, so I gotta at least give her a chance, so I did.

...And it's still insane. It's an ok story, if you're a sci-fi kind of girl who also happens to enjoy love triangles and other romantic-ey things, if you're willing to look past the sheer craziness of it all, it's ok.

I'll give a summary.

These parasite things living on a different planet have to latch onto a host body to live. Eventually they expand in their travels and land on earth. The parasites are really timid and do everything for the good of their community. They wouldn't hurt a fly. So what happens when they take earth for a spin? Does their gentle nature override the fighting, violence loving humans who seem to have no other redeeming quality? Sorta. Not all the way though. The parasites (they like to be called "Souls") take on some of the habits of their hosts, including everything from a love of junk food to a love of certain specific other people, even though the body's original mind is long gone.

What happens is this, a Soul is stuck in a human woman who knew what was going on before she got taken, so when the Soul wakes up, the original owner of the body wakes up too. Kinda odd having two voices in one brain, but that's what happened. The body (whose name is Melanie) loves this guy named Jared with everything she has, and loves her little brother with even more (definitely not in the same way), so as a result, it influences the soul inside her to fall for Jared and have the same maternal instincts toward Melanie's brother, Jamie.

Melanie never goes away like she is supposed to, so she shows the Soul (whose name is Wanderer) what she knows about finding her family, so they set off. Eventually they find each other, and everything would be happy except Jared and Jamie found a whole community of other non-parasite infested humans and don't want a Soul in their place. They scare the crap out of Wanderer (who shall henceforth be known as Wanda) due to threatening with guns and clubs and knives and trying to kill her and stuff.

Eventually she earns most of their trust, but Melanie is still inside her and gets really jealous when Jared kisses her, and really freaking mad when this other guy, Ian, who just likes Wanda, kisses her (she doesn't particularly care for Ian and she feels like Jared is cheating on her with a Soul). So... Wanda has a dilemma. She doesn't want to lose Melanie, but she's tired of getting yelled at for kissing Ian (who wants Wanda) and Jared (who wants Melanie). She can be transplanted, but it's kinda messy, and who would want a parasite in their brain anyways?

But yep, to those of you who are interested in that kind of thing, go right on ahead and check it out. Not a bad story at all, just kinda farfetched for my taste. ...Ok, really farfetched for my taste. I don't really plan on reading Stephanie Meyer's other books (vampires aren't really my thing). After all that kissy-face overload and stuff I think I need something less romantic. Hmm... I was given Dunk about a month ago, maybe I'll try that one out.

Later!

"When Curiosity Met Insanity"

Hello to my fellow bloggers,

I spent the entire day being completely and totally uninspired. Yuck. I like to consider myself an artist, so being inspired is like... I don't know. Like waking up to a beautiful morning and you just know for sure everything's going to go well. Being utterly uninspired though is like depression. The feeling of ucky-ness just won't go away, despite not knowing quite what's wrong. ...I was actually asked more than once today if I'm depressed.

Anyways, as per usual, life goes on.

I was browsing my favorites tab and came across one titled "WCMI" ...I had forgotten what it stood for, so I decided to check it out. Turns out that it's a story a fan-fic writer and comic artist had put together for Alice and Reginald (The Mad Hatter), and it is so epically funny it got me out of my slump. Not even Lolcats could do that for me, and here I was, laughing at Reg's insane pick-up lines and Alice's insults. It's pretty awesome how much fun it is to read an insult. Especially one using Victorian style English that still manages to make sense.

Anyways, here's the link: http://community.livejournal.com/curiousinsane and check it out if you could use a good laugh. Sadly they left off awhile back on kinda a cliff-hanger... but the artist, Bri-Chan, has a DeviantART gallery with more stuff if you're interested.

Oh, and again, to make myself abundantly clear, WCMI and the characters don't belong to me.

Til later,

"Everything is Glorious"

I was working in the backyard this morning when I heard this song. It put a smile on my face immediately and I couldn't help but sing. ...Which may have disturbed my neighbors... but they're used to stranger I think lol. Anyways, here it is! Still doesn't belong to me, nor will it ever.

"Everything is Glorious" by David Crowder Band

The day is brighter here with You,
The night is lighter than its hue,
Would lead me to believe,
Which leads me to believe,

You make everything glorious,
You make everything glorious,
Yeah, You make everything glorious,
And I am Yours.
What does that make me?

My eyes are small but they have seen
The beauty of enormous things.
Which leads me to believe,
There's light enough to see,
Oh, that

You make everything glorious,
You make everything glorious,
You make everything glorious,
And I am Yours.

From glory
To glory,
You are glorious,
You are glorious.
From glory
To glory,
You are glorious,
You are glorious.
Which leads me to believe,
Why I can believe

You make everything glorious,
Yeah, You make everything glorious,
You make everything glorious,
And I am Yours.

You make everything glorious,
You make everything glorious,
Yeah, You make everything glorious,
And I am Yours.

From glory
To glory,
From glory
To glory,
You are glorious,
You are glorious,
you are glorious,
you are glorious.

Gosh I love that song. Enjoy! As always, leave ratings, comments, suggestions, whatever in the comment box.

Valkyrie

"Hey mom, was Tom Cruise tolerable for you in Valkyrie?"
"I don't know, I fell asleep halfway through... Did he die in the end?"
"Yep."
"Then yeah, he was ok."

...Mom doesn't like Tom Cruise lol

And that was the movie I saw during my brief hiatus. Sorry about not posting for the past couple days, by the way.

Valkyrie is set in WWII, and it follows the story of a German soldier (Cruise) who realizes that the Nazi party was not good and Hitler was evil. He's not the only German man who thinks that, and he builds alliances with several other important men and put together more than one assassination attempt. Well, we all know how Hitler's life really ends, so you can pretty much tell that the aforementioned assassination attempts failed.

I can't tell you much more about it, partly because spoilers stink and partly because I wasn't exactly paying attention. You can't really blame me though, it ended at around midnight or 1 in the morning and I usually hit the sack at about 11. Basically, I was tired and my mind was wandering lol. You'll just have to figure out what happened for yourself.

Jazz

This morning when I was doing my history homework, I was learning about American influences on Cuban culture, and jazz was a big one.
The lesson listed some American jazz musicians, so I checked their music out and found that not only is it really good, but also I had heard it several times before but didn't know it was called jazz!
...Yeah, I know, why didn't I already know that? Do I live under a rock or something? Well I had never had reason to research it before, and culturally, yeah, I kinda do live under a rock. Workin' on fixing that though.
Anyways, here's the musicians I read about (and listened to) today, you probably recognize them, but let me know what you think.

Louis Armstrong
Duke Ellington
Josephine Baker
Harry James
Nat King Cole
Cab Calloway

Another thing, I didn't post lyrics or anything today because, well, most of the music itself is so good that only posting lyrics wouldn't really do it justice, so we'll just have to make do with their names so you can find them yourselves.

Oh, and another kind of jazz that I personally enjoy is Jazz Jackrabbit. Lol I used to play that computer game for hours without ever really getting very far... But hey, I was four! Can you blame me?

Til tomorrow!

My Griffin

Hello to my dear readers!

Just so you know, I said I'd specify when something belongs to me, and this is definitely mine.

A couple months ago I saw the movie The Spiderwick Chronicles, and there is a griffin in that movie that sent shivers down my spine when I saw it flying and immediately inspired me to experiment with drawing one myself. Before the movie was even over, I had already tried three or four different poses before finding with one that was halfway decent and didn't show too much of the face (I can't draw a bird's face very well yet), so I came up with this...The picture doesn't really do it justice, but I don't know how to make it any bigger so I'm just gonna have to get over it lol.

I know it's not perfect and the anatomy is probably way off or whatever, but hey, it's a mythical creature, I can make it however I want. ...As long as it stays within the boundaries of half lion, half eagle, that is. Also, it's my first real and true attempt at coloring in one of my drawings, and I had a lot of fun with it.

Let me know what you think; constructive criticism is definitely appreciated and will be used to the best of my ability. But, in the words of another artist whose name escapes me, flames will be used to roast marshmallows.

And another thing, some ideas on names will be appreciated. I'm always in the middle of writing some form of story or other, and maybe I'll include this griffin in one of them somewhere, but he needs a name. Something original is the only requirement.

Until tomorrow! Wait... It's already tomorrow again... Until later today! Lol bye!

"I Do Not Belong" by Kutless

Wow... it's already tomorrow... Um... My brain usually quits being fully functional at around 11 pm, and it just goes downhill from there, so um... If I'm not making any sense right now, don't worry, nothin' wrong, I'm just kinda tired.

Just so you know, I'm still working on that book quotes thing. I've got a few good ones so far, but not enough to post about right now... Not to mention I'm just about falling asleep at the computer, so I can't really do much lol so um... Let's see... Enjoy this song lol. Still not mine, by the way.

"I Do Not Belong" by Kutless

I look around and I feel like
Things changed and I don't know why.
Every day that passes by,
I feel so far away.
I can see in the distance,
You have the rest of me.
I'll put my trust in You,
As I live beyond today.

It's all becoming clear,
I do not belong in a world of broken pieces,
I was meant to be in the arms of Your redemption,
I am moving on to the place of Your perfection,
'Cause I do not belong.

When the world is behind me,
On the day that I breathe my last,
In the face of eternity,
There's hope 'cause I believe.
When I look to the heavens,
And the future that You hold,
It makes it easier to see beyond today.

Now I'm looking to the sky,
'Cause I do not belong in a world of broken pieces,
I was meant to be in the arms of Your redemption,
I am moving on to the place of Your perfection,
'Cause I do not belong.

This world is not my home,
I'm a stranger in this land,
But I am not alone.
I do not belong in a world of broken pieces,
I was meant to be in the arms of Your redemption,
I am moving on to the place of Your perfection,
'Cause I do not belong.
No no,
I do not belong,
I do not belong.

Anyways, hope you enjoy! If you wanna hear it for real, the title's up at the top. Again, I did NOT write this, I just like it and I was inspired by today's events to choose this song. Er rather... Yesterday's events I guess. Well, it was about 4 1/2 hours ago or so, so... Yeah. I'm babbling, I do that when I'm tired, so I better go.

Til Tomorrow! Or um... Today!

Kung Fu Panda

Still no new books. Since there don't appear to be any new books any time soon, I'll have to put together a compilation of some of my favorite lines from a bunch of books... But not today, I'm really tired. I'd love to entertain you with a new song, but my head is swimming right now with all that's happened today. A movie though... Hmm...

Earlier this evening I saw Kung Fu Panda.

It's about this panda named Po who wants more than anything to be skilled in kung fu, but he's his dad's only child, so it's pretty much Po's job to take over the family business eventually. Po doesn't really want to be a soup-chef for his entire life, but is content with going to the Jade Palace to see which of the Furious Five is going to win the competition to become the Dragon Warrior.

After a lot of trouble getting in, he is chosen to become the Dragon Warrior, despite having no experience whatsoever with kung fu. His new master is unhappy, the Furious Five are unhappy, and no one really wants him there except his new master's master, but when the bad guy breaks out of an extremely high security prison, it's up to Po to show everyone (including himself) what he's made of.

Anyways yep, that's the movie I saw earlier. It's a good show; kids are happy because there's fighting scenes with talking animals, and adults are happy because there's an awesome voice-cast.

I'm feeling a little... blah right now, so I'm gonna go catch some Z's.

Til tomorrow,

"We Live" by Superchic(k)

New Books... Wow. I actually haven't read anything good in awhile now. The last good one I read was The Hunt for Red October, and I finished that last month... Not exactly recent enough for a good summary. I may have to read it again.
In the meantime however, I was listening to a ton of music today so... Here's a song by Superchic(k) called "We Live."
Again, I don't own this, I just like it. I think I may put that huge disclaimer thing under my title in the very near future, but until then, check out the post for "Little Wonders" from about... three days ago? Four? Somewhere around there.

"We Live" by Superchic(k)

Again, the song doesn't belong to me, but I like it and it gets stuck in my head, and I'll probably be humming it for a couple days lol. If you wanna find it to listen to it yourself, I wrote the title and artist at the beginning of the song.
Tis a good song, I love ones like that. Ones where it starts out and nothing is going good but it looks up at the end. It reminds me of a good story or book... Which also reminds me to get reading!

Lol I better go, but again, lemme know what you'd rate it and any suggestions for more music!

Until tomorrow,

-Kj
