I'm sorry. I've wanted to post more, I really have! But my computer's being slow. Really slow. Think snail. Any ideas on how to speed this thing up? It's a little older than two years.
Ya know what? I don't have a movie for you today. The last movie I saw was not worth mentioning. Not worth watching. Seriously, at the end of it, I felt like I just wasted two hours of my life. The Land That Time Forgot. Avoid it!
Granted, by watching a movie, you kinda waste a couple hours of your life, regardless of what it's about... but at least with others, like Iron Man, you talk about it with your friends for awhile and plan on seeing it again soon, just because it's so good you want to spend the couple hours with your friends watching a guy in a fancy metal suit blow up bad guys. Two hours wasted turns into two hours of fun, sharing popcorn, having a good time, exclaiming over Tony Stark's awesome suit, and just chillin. See, that's two hours well spent.
Last night, my two hours were not well spent. The graphics were on the tacky side, the characters needed to try again, and sadly, the best line was (and I'm abbreviating it for little ones) "WTF was that?!" after a guy almost got eaten by a mutant squid thing. The show was a sad waste of a movie budget. I could probably make a better movie with my friends and a camcorder.
Sure, it sounds interesting from the cover, originally a story by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the guy who wrote Tarzan. Tarzan was cool, right? Sorry, but they just reused the classic "horror" story pick-em-off-one-at-a-time situation. Right down to the characters; two girls, three guys, and a captain. Sorry directors, but think of something new! Please! That may have been scary a long time ago when it was new, but it's been reused so much and so often that it just ain't cool.
So yep, don't watch The Land That Time Forgot. Try the new Flight of the Phoenix with Dennis Quaid instead. Same basic pick-em-off sitch, but that one was well written and well acted and all around good. Scary in the right parts, happy in others, and definitely not a show that you'd see on the in-flight movie.
Later Gaters!
